Perforation Technique:

For use with Prototype services.

Basic Prototype service does not provide for contour cutting. A simple drilling technique can be used which allows you to snap apart the boards or contours. Here is the technique:

• Perforate contours with a 0.028" drill on a 0.035" grid.
• Snap the boards along perforated edge.
• Sand off to finish the edges as desired.

Using the perforation method can increase your hole density. A premium is charged when the design exceeds 24 holes per square inch. See High Density Drilling under Prototype service.

One note of caution with perforation - keep the traces away from the extreme edges of the board where the perforations are positioned. When you snap the area out the substrate will fracture slightly. Traces that are too close to this fracture area can be damaged.
